Noah Michael Morrissey

After my doctor appointment last wednesday, I was pretty excited about the prospect of meeting my new little baby soon. I even started to bleed a few hours after that appointment, which had me freaking out a bit since Matt wasn't due to be home until late Thursday night. I started looking up flights, trying to find a way for Matt to get home.  No luck, which turned out ok because I couldnt get a hold of Matt anyway, and my mom who was there helping out ordered me on bedrest lol. The bleeding stopped and there was no need to worry.
Thursday I started to have contractions and had them for about 2 hours. Matt was in the air at the time and I was beginning to think he'd have just enough time to get to the hospital from Salt Lake to be in the delivery room. My bag was packed and my Mom, James and I went to Walmart for some last minute things....and the contractions stopped. Apparently this little man likes WalMart just as much as I do. Friday came and went without anymore contractions, as did most of saturday. There were a few that night, but not enough to go to the hospital.

Then Sunday came, and I was losing hope of delivering that weekend. Then around 5:30 I started to contract, we timed them and although there was no pattern, the pain was getting worse and didn't stop. So at 6:30 we checked into Labor and Delivery. Luckily my doctor was at the hospital, checked me himself and told the L&D to keep me. I was at a 4+, and at 7:30 he broke my water...which didn't hurt at all compared to last time.

I still wasn't in too much pain but had them call the anesthesiologist just in case. He rushed right over, maybe a little too rushed because he got pulled over on the way to the hospital. This time around the epidural went in easy peasy and I was able to feel its effects right away. At 9:30 I was between a 4&5, so they started the oxytocin, and at 10 I was just a 5 so they upped the dosage. I started to feel lots of pain because turns out I was going through transition, wish I would have had the nurse check me because I pushed the epidural again and guess what...at 10:50ish I was at a 10. So it was time to push and once again I could not feel hardly anything.
At 10:59 I began to push, and at 11:21 our newest little addition to the Morrissey Family was born.
Our healthy baby boy measured 6lbs 13 oz, and was 19 inches long.
Everything went so smoothly, I couldn't have asked for a better delivery. Between pushes Matt and I were talking/ joking with Dr. K and the nurses, and only pushing 22 minutes was the greatest relief! Especially since I pushed over an hour with James.

We've named him Noah Michael Morrissey

James adores his little brother and so far things are going great between the two of them.

I'll have to get a picture of Matt and Noah on here as well, since it was just the two of us in L&D I spaced getting a picture of those two!

Three and a half more days

Matt is off to Denver until Thursday night. Thursday night cannot come soon enough. I don't know how single moms do it, or military wives for that matter. I guess one day at a time. I am so glad this is the last week of training for Matt and he wont need to go out of town again until mid September. It would help if I weren't so very much pregnant.

This past weekend contractions have been playing tag team with Braxton Hicks, making for late nights. Last night I was up until 2ish breathing through the pains. The night before was much the same, which made 9am church a no go. This morning was full of sharp pains to the cervix and lower back pain, I was just crossing my fingers it wouldn't lead to labor. I'm trying to hold out for Thursday night, or Friday morning. We'll see how its looking down south on Wednesday. My mom is coming down tomorrow night, thank goodness! It will be nice to have adult company while Matt is gone, as well as extra hands to help. I told her she had to be here before Wednesday morning because I am not about to bring James to another doctor appointment. He's fine for the first little while, but once we're in the back room waiting for the doctor his time is up for good behavior. This last time was pretty funny however, when the doctor started to examine down there, James pulled up a chair so he could see what in the world they were doing to his mom. Another reason I'm not bring him to any more appointments. He's getting almost too old to have such memories lol.

This past weekend we took it easy. Last night we walked around the neighborhood, then went up to USU and walked some more.

So cross your fingers that this baby will stay put until Matt is back home. After that put all your thoughts into  him coming this weekend!

Butternut Squash Soup

A few weeks ago I got two butternut squash in my Bountiful Basket....great.

Not a fan of butternut squash.

I tried making soup out of one last fall...and it was nasty.
I also did the butter and brown sugar thing to another one, and I didnt' care for it.
(I also don't like sweet potatoes or pumpkin pie)

So the other day when I was browsing Our Best Bites I came across a Butternut Squash Soup Recipe that looked pretty good. It wasn't meant to be overly sweet like alot of other recipes I've seen so I thought, why not try it.

So today I pulled a chair up to the counter and had James "help" me make the soup. He picked up everything and smelled it, saying "mmmm Yuuummmy!" I had to cut extra carrots since James kept eating them from my little bowl. Then when I cut up the onion he ran out of the room wiping his little eyes. When the soup was all cooked he saw the steam rising and said "Ooh is Hot!" and tried to cool it down by blowing on it.

I wasn't sure if James would try the soup on his own, or if I'd have to plead with him to take one sip. Surprisingly he was eager to get in his high chair to eat. As soon as I placed the bowl in front of him he dipped the spoon right in and took a tiny sip...."mmmmm". The rest of his spoonfuls were slurped right up! Cue angles singing....Its a miracle! The boy who's only wanted to eat corn dogs and hot dogs all week loved Butternut Squash Soup!
It was really good! I added some Chipotle Tabasco sauce to mine for an extra kick, and I think next time I make it I'll keep it a little bit more chunky for added texture.

So if any of you still have a butternut squash sitting around, make it into soup. Yum!

37 Weeks tomorrow!

Went to the doctor today, and here are my updates...
  • Thing 2 is measuring 6lbs 3oz
  • I have an abnormally high amount of amniotic fluid in there as well
  • I'm dilated 2.5 cm
  • 80% effaced
So we'll check the lady parts again next Wednesday, and once Matt gets home that Friday we'll start working on getting me to go into labor. Old Main Hill here I come!

Trying to beat the ticking time bomb

I'm hoping I have only two weeks from today before this baby boy makes his debut. Today I finished his bassinet I found at a garage sale for only $7!

Much better.

I've got the boys room ready to go.

I've got the carpet cleaning scheduled for friday, and so now the only things on my to do list are..
  • Make a Bobby Cover
  • Clean the Medela
  • Some how get a dresser down to Logan from Idaho Falls
  • Pack my hospital bag
  • Pick up a few odds and ends
  • Keep the house clean
Oh...and pick out a name for this child. If I were having a girl it would only be a matter of picking which of the many names we love. With boys, its agreeing on even one that would make our top 3...sigh. Pray I dont have any more boys, if I did they would be nameless.

Matt is in Madison Wisconsin this week. He and I are both ready for the traveling to end. The nice thing is, next week he'll be in Denver, so not too far if I did go into labor while he was gone.

James and I are doing our best to beat the heat. We might even brave the public pool tomorrow.

Also, check out this cute little blanket and burp cloth I made for my cousin's baby girl. I've never been crazy for orange but I really like this one! Love my sewing machine :)

My next doctor appointment is Thursday, and we're doing an Ultrasound, so hopefully I can show you some pictures of the little one. Until then!
