Breathing Easy

Today I went in for a check-up, one that I've been holding my breath for. I'm relieved to report that all is well, and even though Thing 2 was playing Hide-and-Seek with the nurses, it's got a healthy heart beat. I probably shouldn't have been worried, but I've been so freaked out about losing this one as well...but really I had nothing to worry about. I've had no spotting, and even at almost 15 weeks I'm still puking my guts out in the morning. Either way, sigh of relief, baby is healthy, and I'm in smaller pants than when I found out I was prego.
We'll find out whether Thing 2 is a He or She March 16th, so place your bets lol.
Anywho, aside from morning sickness, not being able to sleep, and all other lovely pregnancy side effects, we've been good.
Matt is busy with school and we're attempting to make post-graduation plans. I'm trying to keep up with my 22 month old wild child and everything else around here. James is really into books and loves to have a story read to him. His vocabulary is increasing, which makes knowing what he wants easier to understand. Lately he's obsessed with my stomach, and likes to lift up my shirt and put his ear up to it. I'm not sure why he does it, maybe he knows more than we give him credit for. Either way, its especially cute when he gives my stomach a little kiss.

Since I'll be recovering from birthing Thing 2 on our 5th anniversary, we decided to celebrate on our 5th 1st date anniversary this past weekend. We dropped the kiddo off at my parents and were able to get in some much needed alone time and rest. It was nice to eat dinner without a child trying to climb on the table, and watch TV other than Backyardigans.
Hopefully it wont be another 2 years before we can get away again, and maybe go away to somewhere warm and sunny. ;)

Sorry there are no pictures, I'll have a picture post soon.

Since 90% of you already know...

I think it's time to make it official.

Next August, a new member of the Morrissey Family will be joining us.

As of Friday I am 11 weeks along, and so far things are looking pretty good. We didn't plan to tell ANYONE for at least another week...ha ya that didn't work out so well. The day after my first doctor appointment we went up to Idaho Falls for Christmas and I had to go to the emergency room because of spotting. Usually this wouldn't be a big concern, but in June I had a miscarriage, so to be safe we wanted to check things out. Everything was fine, but I was under doctors orders to basically sit on my bum for the next 2-3 weeks. Since then I've had another doctor appointment and things are looking great.

Aside from being waaaay sicker than I ever was with James and spending at least 2 days a week in bed for the last 5 weeks, I'm doing well. Matt on the other hand has been pulling double duty to pick up my slack and although he doesn't complain, I know he's exhausted. So both of us are hoping all this morning sickness leaves as I enter the second trimester. James isn't quite sure what's going on, but he does say "baby" when he sees the ultrasound.

I'm excited for James to have a playmate, but am cherishing these last few months we have just the two of us when daddy is at school or work. The other day as I was experiencing some wonderful morning sickness, James came up and asked "you ok?" , then later I heard him gagging in the bathroom. He was leaning over the toilet pretending to throw up! This child never ceases to make me laugh.

I have another appointment early February, but we wont find out the sex until March. We're hoping for another boy but who knows :)

December Summary

Oh December, in the begining you were stressful, your middle passed by me like a bullet train, and the end had distractions.  So there arent many pictures, and not a whole lot to write about, I'll try to do better this year. Speaking of this year, holy cow. I've been waiting for a while for this year to come, but now I'm starting to freak out a bit. My baby turns 2 in a few short months. My husband, who has worked his butt off to get 6 years of school done in 4, graduates with an MBA in June. Then sometime soon after that we'll move to who knows where, and begin a new chapter of our lives.
I had this realization a few weeks ago, and so I tried to spend my time taking things easy, and spending time with my boys. James is still a little rascal, I swear I have to clean his face every five minutes. He has mastered jumping off of couches, and actually gets pretty good distance. Yikes. Knock on wood, no emergency room visits for him yet.
He's adding new words every day, and asks us "What is that?", and tells me to "Let go!" of things he wants. He roars at people when we're in public, and I can't decide if he learned that from Daddy or his aunt Caroline. My favorite is when he wanders into our room at night, climbs into bed with us, and squeezes right into the middle whether there be room or not. Then he grabs my face in both hands, plants a big wet kiss, then turns over to sleep. He may be wild, but he's the sweetest wild child I've ever known.

And now for December...

James watching Backyardigans, his new favorite show. He calls it "Yeee! Haw!"

An art project I attempted with James, it didnt turn out the way I hoped but he couldnt stop looking at it :)

When making a million cookies that I never ended up delivering, James decided to sneak the chocolate syrup out of the fridge and drink it all...
It's times like this as a parent you can either choose to be mad or choose to laugh..
I laughed pretty hard.

We drove down the Salt Lake one night, ate some In-N-Out on the way, and went to see the temple lights.

Christmas Morning, James tried to trade his Santa present for his cousin Ivy's santa present..

Once he opened everything though, he decided to keep his stuff.
His favorite present was probably his Dad's basketball hoop, he'd carry that thing around the house, looking for someone to hold it so he could shoot baskets.

James all bundled up to play in the snow, crazy child. Thank goodness he had Aunts and Uncles willing to go outside with him, I only lasted 2 minutes at a time.

After Matt and I came back from  a movie, we saw this scene through the window. Sweet huh?

Our Christmas break was great, spent with lots of family and food. It ended bitter sweet as I said goodbye to my younger brother Zac for the next two years. He's going on a mission to Riverside, California (yep where we grew up)  speaking spanish. I'm so proud of him, but I'll miss him a lot.

2011 is here now, and its full of exciting things for the Morrissey's.  Stay tuned.
